Colt revolvers, and other Colt firearms, are made by Colt's Manufacturing Company, headquartered in New Hartford, Connecticut.  In 1836 Samuel Colt founded Colt's Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company, now named Colt's Manufacturing Company, or more simply, Colt.  Colt revolvers are just one of the many types of firearms they have produced since that time; others include pistols, rifles, submachine guns and grenade launchers.  Three of the most famous Colt products, are the Colt .45 revolver, sometimes known as the Peacemaker, the M1911 Colt pistol and the Walker Colt, the largest and most powerful black powder repeating handgun ever made.  Although they did not design it, for a time, Colt was primarily responsible for the M16 rifle production.

With production starting in 1936, Colt revolvers have always been amongst the most popular in the world.  With Colt revolvers such as the Walker Colt, Colt Single Action Army (a.k.a Colt .45 or Peacemaker), and The Colt Revolver Rifle, one of the first repeating rifles, used during the American Civil War.  Colt revolvers continue to progess with models like Colt King Cobra, Colt Police Positve and Colt Python.  Whether it was Colt pistols, Colt rifles, Colt revolvers or one of their many other products, the Colt name was popular with military, law enforcement and civilians alike.
