Ruger, the 4th largest firearms manufacturer in the United States, is a Southport, Connecticut-based firearm manufacturing company.  Ruger is the common short name for Sturm, Ruger & Company, maker of Ruger tactical rifles, single- and double-action revolvers, shotguns, semi-automatic pistols, along with bolt-action, semi-automatic, full-automatic, and single-shot rifles.  The company started in a small rented machine shop by partners Alexander McCormick Sturm and William B. Ruger. 

Ruger sport rifles are among the most well made in the world, with models like SR-556E, SR-556CLA, SR-556SC and SR-22AR.  Ruger tactical rifles offer the same quality and build of all the Ruger firearms, but focused on military and law enforcement uses.  Outside of the firearms industry, Ruger Golf produces steel and titanium castings for golf clubs made by a number of different brands, but Ruger tactical rifles are a large part of the company's primary focus, firearms.
