Sig Sauer tactical rifles and other firearms, are made by the German representative of Switzerland-based manufacturing firm Swiss Arms AG.  SIG Sauer GmbH is a spin off from Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft (SIG), and Sig Sauer Inc., formerly known as SIGARMS is the company originally established in 1985 and to import and distribute SIG Sauer tactical rifles and firearms into the United States, though it does now have some manufacturing capabilities.  It has been a separate entity since 2000 and is headquartered in Exeter, New Hamphire after stops in Tysons Corner, and Herndon, Virginia.

As one of the largest firearms manufacturers in the world, the company makes Sig Sauer tactical rifles, pistols and machine guns.  Per the company's website, Sig Sauer has recently tripled its work force and invested eighteen million dollars into state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and equipment.  It is also the fastest growing firearms maker in the United States, expanding its operations and increasing sales nearly 50% since 2005.  Sig Sauer Inc. claims that one-third of US police use Sig Sauer tactical rifles, pistols and other SIG firearms.
