Springfield Tactical Rifles

Maker of Springfield tactical rifles is Geneseo, Illinois based Springfield Armory Inc., a manufacturer of firearms founded in 1974.  The four-time recipient of the Gun of the Year Award, an award given by the National Rifle Association, Springfield Armory Inc. is one of the largest firearms marketers of imported firearms in the United States.  Though there is no actual connection, the company was named after the US Government's Federal Armory (founded by President George Washington), named Springfield Armory.  Company founder Elmer C. Balance registered the trademark of "Springfield Armory" after the closing of the Federal Armory in 1968.  He used the name for his new company dedicated to the production of the M1A Springfield tactical rifle, the civilian version of the M14.

The M1A Springfield tactical rifles come in a wide variety of styles and options, including limitless custom options, modified by Springfield in it's well-known custom shop.  Currently the shop is lead by head gunsmith David Williams, while previous directors of the custom shop were Les Baer and Jack Weigand.  Springfield also manufactured the M1911 pistol variant, the Tactical Response Pistol Professional Model (formerly known as the Bureau Model), one of two guns to have passed the trials set forth by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for its Hostage Rescue Team and S.W.A.T. teams.

With one of the largest selections available anywhere, Sportsman’s Depot, LLC carries Springfield tactical rifles along with many other top quality brands.
